Neu-Ulm, 30 October 2009. Kögel – Europe´s third-largest trailer manufacturer – has a new owner. On Friday in Neu-Ulm, only three months after the company was forced to file for bankruptcy, insolvency administrator Arndt Geiwitz was able to announce the successful sale of the enterprise. Buyer is the Humbaur Group from Gersthofen near Augsburg.

"With Humbaur, we have managed to find a medium-sized enterprise from the region to take over Kögel, that is interested in a long-term engagement as well as being clearly committed to maintaining the production site in the Burtenbach area", explained Arndt Geiwitz in his statement to the press. "I am firmly convinced of the fact that today we have laid the foundation-stone for another Kögel success story". After a dramatic and continual collapse in the trailer sector which resulted in a 90 per cent drop in business, Kögel had filed for insolvency at the end of July 2009.
